Case Study  Multi-Agency Exercise
           Exercise Georgiana May 2013

The system supported  the achievement of shared awareness by producing both a common operating picture and  a series of situation reports (SITREPs) to ensure unified purpose at Operational, Tactical and Strategic levels of command.

The system was also extensively put through its paces during the exercise planning phase and during regular command briefings which were held throughout.

Exercise Georgiana involved a simulated derailment scenario on the East Coast Mainline (exercised at the Waddington Training Site) and a command centre at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue headquarters in South Park Avenue, Lincoln, where the county’s response was co-ordinated. The exercise tested the county’s personnel and systems of contingencies in coping, containing and resolving a major incident.

Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service, local authorities, the Environment Agency and health agencies, as well as voluntary and private agencies took part.

Gaist provided technical assistance during the exercise and assisted participating agencies in making the best use of the system.

More Case Studies

The Lincolnshire Resilience Forum, through Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service, used GRP2 in May to plan and provide situational awareness for multiple agencies during Exercise Georgiana, a large scale multi agency exercise spread over 4 days and operating from  remote sites in the UK stretching from Lincolnshire to London.
